Use the following steps if you are upgrading To upgrade SQL Compliance Manager 4.0 or older later in a clustered environment . The steps support upgrading in either a windows using Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008 clustered environmentlater, follow the steps below.

Upgrade the SQL Compliance Manager Collection Service on Cluster Nodes

You must upgrade the SQL Compliance Manager Collection Service on each cluster node for the service to work correctly when a failure occurs on the primary cluster node hosting the Collection Service.

Note

Before upgrading, changing, or uninstalling SQL Compliance Manager on the passive node, you must delete the following registry entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Idera\SQLcompliance\CollectionService\TraceDirectory. This step in is unnecessary for new installations.

upgrade the SQL Compliance Manager Collection Service on cluster nodes:

  1. In the Microsoft Cluster Administrator tool (Windows Server 2003) or Microsoft Failover Cluster Management Console (Windows Server 2008 and later), select the SQLComplianceCollectionService resource and take the service offline.
  2. Log on with an administrator account to the computer on which you want to upgrade SQL Compliance Manager.
  3. Run SetupRun SQLCMInstall.exe in  in the root of the SQL Compliance Manager installation kit on the first cluster node.
  4. Under Install, click SQL Compliance Manager.
  5. Read the Welcome window, and then click Next.
  6. Review the information you need to start the upgrade and click Next.
  7. Select the SQL Compliance Manager setup type and uncheck the IDERA Dashboard setup type. Review and accept the license agreement by

    clicking

    selecting the I accept the terms

    in the license agreement, and then click Next.
  8. Verify that the installation folder is the same location where you initially installed SQL Compliance Manager, and then click Next.
  9. Select the Clustered Collection Server setup type, and then click Next.
  10. Check the Install the Collection Server in a Windows Cluster check box.
  11. Select whether you are upgrading the Collection Service on the Currently Active Node or A Passive Node, and then click Next.

  13. Specify if you want to register SQL Compliance Manager with an existing IDERA Dashboard. 
    If you select Yes, you need to provide the IDERA Dashboard location and administrator credentials. 
    If you want to use the IDERA Dashboard, see how to Deploy the IDERA Dashboard in clustered environments.  
  14. Specify the location in which you want to upgrade SQL Compliance Manager.
  15. Enable the Clustered Environment checkbox and select whether you are upgrading SQL Compliance Manager in an active or a passive node. 
    Verify that the repository is the same SQL Server Instance name hosting the current repository and specify a form of authentication.
    Test  Connections to make sure the information is correct and click Next.
  16. If you upgrade on If you upgrade the currently active node, verify that the SQL Compliance Manager Collection Service trace directory is the same location where you in which your current directory resides, and then click click Next. 
    If you install upgrade on a passive node, continue with the next wizard skips this step.
  17. Type the service account informationthe appropriate credentials in the provided fields under which the IDERA services run, and then click click Next.
  18. Verify that the Repository path is the same SQL Server instance name hosting the Repository.
  19. Select the authentication method used to upgrade the Repository database and include credentials, if required, and then click Next.
  20. In the Repository Warning dialog box, click Preserve to retain your current Repository. If you click Delete, the upgrade tool DELETES all of your current Repository databases.

    IDERA uses this account to connect, discover, and gather configuration information from SQL Servers in your Business environment, the installer grants the "Log on as a Service" right to the account that you specify.
  22. Review the upgrade settings and click Click Install.
  23. In Windows Services, stop the SQL Compliance Manager Collection Service service and set the Startup type to to Manual.

Repeat the previous steps on each cluster node. Point to the SQL Compliance Manager Repository installed on the first node.

After upgrading SQL Compliance Manager in all nodes, follow the steps below:

  1. Log on to the active node and launch In the Microsoft Cluster Administrator tool (Windows Server 2003) or the Microsoft Failover Cluster Management Console (Windows Server 2008 and later), select the SQLComplianceCollectionService resource and , right-click the SQLComplianceCollectionService resource, and select Properties. 
  2. Go to the Registry Replication tab and set the Root Registry Key to Software\Idera\SQLCM.
  3. Close the Properties window, right-click the SQLComplianceCollectionService resource, and bring the service online.

  1. Log on to the passive node, launch the Microsoft Cluster Administrator tool (Windows Server 2003) or the Microsoft Failover Cluster Management Console (Windows Server 2008 and later), and verify if the SQLComplianceCollectionService resource is online.   


Note

SQL Compliance Manager is ONLY compatible with IDERA Dashboard version 4.6 and with limited support.
