The first step is to download the OS X archive package from Customer Support Portal

Unarchive the package - once the package is downloaded, extract double click on it to the desired location. The package extracts to a directory named "datastudio"unarchive it.
If you have already installed a previous version of Aqua Data Studio, it is best to rename the old version (the package unarchives to "Aqua Data Studio.app").
It is possible to have a current version and an older version installed. The two cannot be run simultaneously.
Unarchive the package to the desktop.
Aqua Data Studio will automatically detect all of the settings of your previous installation, including the license information.
Launching Aqua Data Studio
Aqua Data Studio extracts to a "datastudio" directory.To launch can be launched by double-clicking it.
Notice that there are two installations of Aqua Data Studio using the Java Virtual Machine bundled with the application, run the following from within the directory where Aqua Data Studio has been extracted.
./datastudio-bundled.sh

in the Dock in the screenshot below. This illustrates how it is possible to have a current version and an older version installed. The two cannot be run simultaneously.
Using the UNIX style package
The UNIX style package available at Customer Support Portal is useful for launching Aqua Data Studio from a bash terminal. Once this package is downloaded and unarchived, it can be launched from the terminal.
To launch Aqua Data Studio using a preinstalled or custom Java Virtual Machine, run from the terminal, type the following from within the directory where Aqua Data Studio has been extracted.datastudio directory
$: ./datasudio-osx ./datastudio.sh
Downloading the Linux package that does not contain a bundled Java Virtual Machine (ads-linux-novm)
There is a version of the Linux package available on Customer Support Portal that does not contain a bundled Java Virtual Machine. This package for this version is named beginning with "ads-linux-novm".
Installing this version is identical to the steps above.
To launch Aqua Data Studio using extracted "No VM" version, run the following from within the directory where Aqua Data Studio has been extracted.
./datastudio.sh

Launching Aqua Data Studio from a bash terminal uses the default version of Java set in Applications > Utilities > Java > Java Preferences.app. Select the version of Java appropriate to the version of Aqua Data Studio you have downloaded. |
