As SQL Safe 9.3 introduces new CWF protocols, it 5 continues to use the WCF communication protocols introduced in 9.3. It is important to understand the impact on compatibility with older agent versions. This guide provides essential information to help you upgrade effectively.
- Incompatibility with older agents:
- Agents older than 9.3 (including 9.2.2 and lower) that do not include the CWF changes are no longer
- new protocols are not supported in a mixed-version environment with SQL Safe 9.5.
- Backup processing:
Previously, you could upgrade the management service - Management Service while still using older agent versions. However, upgrading the management service
- Management Service to 9.5 will prevent communication with those prior agent versions
- agents older than 9.3 (including 9.2.2 and lower), as they do not use
- support the new CWF
- protocols.
- These older agents will still process backups, but their statuses will not be sent to the management console.
- reported to the Management Console.
Agents 9.3, 9.4, and 9.5 remain fully compatible with each other. - Upgrade wizard:
SQL Safe 9.5 provides a mass upgrade wizard to simplify the upgrade process for agents.
