As SQL Safe 9.5 continues to use the WCF communication protocols introduced in 9.3 introduces new CWF protocols, it . It is important to understand the impact on compatibility with older agent versions. This guide provides essential information to help you upgrade effectively.
- Incompatibility with older agents:
- Agents older than 9.3 (including 9.2.2 and lower) that do not include the CWF changes are no longer
- new protocols are not supported in a mixed-version environment with SQL Safe 9.5.
- Backup processing:
Previously, you could upgrade the Management Service while still using older agent versions. However, upgrading the Management Service to 9.5 will prevent communication with those prior agent versions - agents older than 9.3 (including 9.2.2 and lower), as they do not use
- support the new CWF
- protocols.
- These older agents will still process backups, but their statuses will not be sent
- reported to the Management Console.
Agents 9.3, 9.4, and 9.5 remain fully compatible with each other.- Upgrade wizard:
SQL Safe 9.5 provides a mass upgrade wizard to simplify the upgrade process for agents.
