  1. In SQL Inventory Manager Administration, click Manage Custom Inventory Fields. SQL IM Inventory Manager displays the Manage Custom Inventory Fields window.
  2. Click Add. SQL IM Inventory Manager displays the Add Inventory field dialog box.
  3. Type the name for the new inventory field.
  4. Select the element level, whether Server, Instance, or Database.
  5. Select the data type, whether Open Ended, Yes/No, or Picklist.
    • If you select Open Ended, use the Default Contents field to type the information that you want to appear when this inventory item is selected. If the default is a null or blank string, the Properties column of the Manage Custom Inventory Fields window displays Default: (empty) once you save this inventory item.
    • If you select Yes/No, select whether you want Yes or No to appear as the default value.
    • If you select Picklist, use the Options field to list the items you want available to the user when they select this inventory item. Add only one option per line. This field is limited to 100 characters. Note that the first line is the default option which displays (Default) next to the item in the Properties column once you save this inventory item.
  6. Click Save.
