An effort calculation is a formula used to estimate the amount of work required by a task. Effort calculations are defined on the repository level using Effort calculations on the Tools menu.

A basic effort calculation has been provided by WhereScape as a starting point.

Effort calculation information for objects can be shown by right-clicking on the corresponding node in the tree and choosing Show effort calculations (for categories and models with versions) or Model > Show effort calculations (for models without versions, versions, groups and schemas).
You can also right-click in a diagram and choose Model > Show effort calculations to show effort calculation information for the diagram.

From the Chose effort calculation dialog, select the effort calculation to use from the drop-down menu and click OK.

The effort calculation information is shown in a bar graph with the values tabulated below.

  • To show details of the values used in the effort calculations, click Show details
  • To export the contents of the table to a CSV file, click Export .

To include more source systems, groups or schemas select them in the tree.
