To copy a model version, WhereScape 3D can either perform a Quick Copy or an Advanced Copy.

  • Quick Copy - Makes an exact copy of the selected model version.
  • Advanced Copy - Enables you to configure additional settings to the model being copied:
    • set the copied versions to use the original source mappings.
    • import hidden objects.
    • apply model conversions.

Quick Copy

  1. Right-click the version and choose  Quick Copy.
  2. Enter the  name  of the new version and then click  OK.
  3. The new model version is displayed in the repository tree and in the diagram.


Note

The original source mappings have been maintained.

Advanced Copy

  1. Select an existing model version and select  Advanced Copy from the Workflow pane.
  2. Select one of the following options:
    • Existing model - proceed to step 3 if copying to an existing model.
    • Create a new model - Refer to Refer to  Creating a New Model Version  for an explanation of the subsequent wizard steps.
  3. To copy into an existing model, select the target model—this is an existing item. Click Next  to continue.

    Tip

    Click and to expand or collapse the nodes in the tree.

  4. Select the relevant options to select the required settings to use, during the copy process. Click  Next  when the settings are done.

    Description

    Use original source mappings

    • Select this option if the copied model should have the same source mappings as the source model, this way both the source tables and copied tables have source mappings to the same tables.
    • Leave the option un-selected if the copied model should create source mappings on the copied table to point to the original tables.

    Import hidden objects

    This option enables hidden objects to be imported with the copied model and later on manipulated.

    • To manipulate hidden columns, right click on any diagram Columns, select  Column  and then  Manage hidden columns.
    • To manipulate a table, right click anywhere around the diagram tables, select  Tables  and then  Manage hidden tables.

    Apply model conversion

    This option enables you to apply an existing model conversion to the copied model.
    If this option selected, the  Apply mode conversion  window shown below is displayed. This enables you to select a model conversion to use and set additional settings. For more details on applying a model conversion, refer to  Applying a Model Conversion  .

  5. The model is copied. Icons in the left column and the Status column indicates the current progress. Additional information is provided in the Information column. Click a link to view the associated logs.
