Users are able to configure model conversions to operate any way they wish. This is achieved using the Model conversion manager, which can be accessed in two ways:

  • Manage model conversions in the Tools menu.
  • Model > Define model conversions from the Version right-click context menu.

Note

Model Conversion Manager is not available by default and must be activated from Tools > Settings > Enabled Functionality > Conversions.

Using the Tools Menu

Select Manage model conversions from the Tools menu.

Model Conversion

The model conversions can be organized in groups that you can see and expand in the left pane. You can use the search and filtering functionality to to quickly find a conversion rule or group. For more information refer to Search and Filters.

Depending on which element you select on the left pane, different options become available:
When you select the repository name or no item is selected the following icons are available in the tool bar.

When you select a group the following icons are available in the tool bar.

When you select a model, the following icons are available in the tool bar.

  1. Clicking the Apply and Export model conversions button saves any changes made and opens the Export dialog which allows saving the selected model conversion, or all model conversions under the selected repository or source system to an XML file.
  2. Clicking the Import button opens the import dialog where you can select an XML file containing previously exported model conversions to be imported. These will be added under the repository or source system that is currently selected.

Creating Groups

  1. Select the repository name or an existing group.
  2. Click the Add group icon 
  3. Enter a name four your group.
  4. On the unselected section select the conversions you want to add to the group and click 
  5. Click OK.

Adding-Removing Conversions from Groups

  1. Select a group.
  2. Click the Edit icon 
  3. Move items between the selected or unselected columns.

Usage Report

The usage report can be seen on the right-side pane once you select a group. This report shows which conversion rules are in use with a green check next to the name.

Model Conversion Description

The description tab allows you to set additional metadata such as descriptions and conversion properties for custom model conversion.

The version of the model conversion.

A short description of the model conversion.

Conversion properties

Define the properties of your model conversion and set the default value. These can be set every time you apply the model conversion.

  • Click  to add a new property for the model conversion.
  • Click  to edit the selected property.
  • Click  to delete the selected property.

Model Conversion Rules

The Rules for each model conversion are displayed in the top right pane.
Each individual rule can be Enabled, Disabled, flagged for a Snapshot or flagged to Stop using the drop-down menu beside the rule Name. If the Snapshot option in the Advanced copy (Refer to Copying a Model Version - Quick and Advanced Copy for details) dialog has been selected, then a snapshot is made after the marked rule is executed.
If the Stop flag has been selected, the execution of the current model conversion will be stopped. All rules after the one flagged as Stop will be skipped, including rules from current as well as all the next model conversions.

You can use the Search field to type in a filter and quickly find a conversion rule. Clicking the drop-down menu enables you to specify additional search parameters. For more information refer to Search and Filters.

Using the Version right-click Menu

To define a model conversion for a model version, right-click the version and choose Model, then Define model conversions.

The global model conversions are listed at the Repository level in the left pane and can be managed in the same way as described above.

Note

  • Any model conversion defined at the repository level can be applied to all models in that repository.
  • Any model conversion defined at the model version level can ONLY be applied to the model version.
