Use the command references provided below to stop, start and restart Uptime Infrastructure Monitor services. Note that in all sections, the individual UIM services are listed in the actual order that they should be started or stopped. 

Windows installations

The services that belong to UIM on Windows monitoring stations are:

  • UIM Data Store
  • UIM Data Collector
  • UIM Web Server

To start the UIM services

  1. Login to the monitoring station as a system administrator or user with privileges to control the UIM services.
  2. Double click Administrative Tools, and then double click Services.
  3. In the Services window, find the following entries, and then click Start for the following services:
    1. up.time Data Store
    2. up.time Data Collector
    3. up.time Web Server
    4. up.time Controller

Alternatively, the following commands can be executed from the Windows command prompt to start the services:

net start "up.time Data Store"
net start "up.time Data Collector"
net start "up.time Web Server"
net start "up.time Controller"

To stop the UIM services

  1. Log in to the monitoring station as a system administrator or user with privileges to control the UIM services.
  2. Double click Administrative Tools, and then double click Services.
  3. In the Services window, find the following entries, and then click Stop for the following services:
    1. up.time Web Server
    2. up.time Controller
    3. up.time Data Collector
    4. up.time Data Store 

Alternatively, the following commands can be executed from the Windows command prompt to stop the services:

net stop "up.time Web Server"
net stop "up.time Controller"
net stop "up.time Data Collector"
net stop "up.time Data Store"

Linux installations

The services that belong to UIM on Solaris and Linux systems are:

  • uptime_datastore
  • uptime_core
  • uptime_httpd, uptime_controller

To start the UIM services

  1. Log in to the monitoring station as the root user or the uptime user.
  2. At the command line, type the following commands to start UIM:
    /etc/init.d/uptime_datastore start
/etc/init.d/uptime_core start
/etc/init.d/uptime_httpd start
/etc/init.d/uptime_controller start
     

To stop the UIM services

  1. Log in to the monitoring station as the root user or the uptime user.
  2. At the command line, type the following commands to stop UIM:
    /etc/init.d/uptime_httpd stop
/etc/init.d/uptime_core stop
/etc/init.d/uptime_controller stop
/etc/init.d/uptime_datastore stop
