The Generating Data Vault wizard enables you to create a data vault from a data vault design model. After the wizard is run successfully, a data vault is generated.
To generate a data vault:

1. Select an model version from a data vault design category and select Generate data vault from the Workflow pane.
   The Generate data vault-Category configuration dialog is displayed.
   
   

   This dialog is ONLY displayed when creating a data vault for the first time. Refer to Default Category Naming Standards for details.

2. If needed complete the following:
   • Click on an entity type, click and modify the Name Prefix and Name suffix for the selected entity type.
   • Click on an attribute, click and modify the name for the selected attribute.
3. Click Next.
   The Generate data vault - Model definition dialog is displayed.
   
4. Select a Category or a Model, enter a Name and Version for the new model and click Create.
   

   If you select a Model then you only need to enter a Version.

   The Generate data vault - Naming standards dialog is displayed.
   
5. Set the Prefix and Suffix for the Hub and Link hash key to define hash key naming standards and click Next.
   

   Click to reset to the default settings.

   The Generate data vault - Define the Satellites to be generated dialog is displayed.
   
6. On the Generate data vault Define the Satellites to be generated dialog you can define the attribute types the satellites will be generated from.
   • Click to add an new attribute type entry and configure the Prefix and Suffix for the generated satellite.
   • Click to remove an attribute type entry.
   • Click to reset to the default settings.
   • Click the Save the model conversion created by managing the Satellites checkbox if you choose to reuse it or debug.
7. Click Next.
   The Generate data vault - Apply model conversion dialog is displayed. This screen generates model conversions based on information supplied on the Generate data vault - Define the Satellites to be generated dialog
   
8. Complete the following, if required...
   • Click to add a new model conversion entry.
   • Select a new rule from the drop-down list.
   • Click to reset to the default settings.
   • Drag the handle to reorder the model conversions.
9. Click Next.
   The Generate data vault - copy model dialog is displayed.
   
10. Select the Display diagram checkbox to display the diagram at the completion of the wizard and click Finish.
    The diagram is displayed.
