Assigning an owner to a server provides a single point of contact for coworkers to call when that instance is experiencing performance issues. Server ownership can correlate with specific job responsibilities for monitoring your SQL Server environment.
To assign an owner using the SQLDM Console, follow these steps:
When you assign an owner to a server, the IDERA Newsfeed Platform automatically configures this user to follow the selected instance, ensuring them to easily and quickly access the server status updates from the Most Recent feed. The platform also updates the server profile to include the owner's contact information. After these updates are complete, the SQLDM Mobile and Newsfeed Service sends a notification email to the previous owner stating that the ownership has changed.
Server ownership provides several benefits:
Any IDERA Newsfeed user who has SQLDM administrator rights can set ownership. To check these security settings, identify which SQLDM installation the IDERA Newsfeed Platform is using as the authentication provider, and then use the SQLDM Console to verify its security settings.
