The following screen illustrates a host connection for a HDFS directory:

Connection name | Enter a name for the connection. |
Connection type | Select Host from the drop-down list. |
Protocol | Select HDFS from the dro-down list. |
Host | Enter the hostname or IP address for the connection. |
Port | Enter the Port for the conenction. The port can be found in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\services or /etc/services file. It can also be inspected through the command netstat -an or 'netstat -b. netstat -b requires running the Command Prompt as an Administrator. |
Location | Enter the path to the directory. |
Manual tree expand | Select the checkbox to manually expand and load the database and host connections tree, instead of automatically drilling down the tree. |
Kerberos settings enable you to set up Kerberos authentication. | |
Enable kerberos | Select this checkbox to enable 3D to authenticate with the HDFS server using Kerberos. |
Ke Distribution Center URL | Enter the URL or IP address of the Kerberos key distribution center server. |
Realm | Enter the Kerberos realm to connect to. |
KeyTab | Click the Select KeyTab button to select the Kerberos KeyTab for the user principal. |
User principal | Enter the principal 3D will use to authenticate . |
Name node principal | Enter the principal the HDFS name node uses. Note The current version of 3D can only connect to directories using HDFS 2 due to incompatibilities between HDFS 2 and HDFS 1.2.1. To connect to HDFS 1.2.1 use 3D version 2.1.0.1. |
Test connection | Click the button to ensure the entered parameters are correct. |
