The profiling method for a source system can be set in the Create Source System dialog or by right-clicking on an existing source system and choosing properties.

  1. Click the Set profiling method button.

  1. Information about the connection and the referenced RDBMS system are shown in the top half of the dialog. The Vendor and Version string or Version number are used to derive the valid discovery methods.

  1. Change the profiling type using the Type drop down. Confirm the Vendor, Version and Method; click OK.

Note

  • Profiling results are kept for 3 profiling runs by default. This can be increased or decreased as required.
  • If the connection is dropped during profiling the whole process will fail and will need to be run again from the start. As this can sometimes be undesirable, for example when running profiling overnight on a database that will be unavailable for a period of time while it is being backed up, you can set the number of minutes to retry the connection for before failing using the Connection retry field.
  • The default values for profiling methods are set up for each repository. To view or change these default values, go to Settings on the Tools menu:

  • Choose Profiling under the required repository in the left tree.
