Important Observations

  • Special field handling is an advanced prompting facility for fields.
  • You specify the name of the field to be prompted, the function key to be used and the Visual LANSA form that is used as the prompter.
  • Unlike IBM i prompting, Visual LANSA prompter forms do not necessarily cause any interaction with the IBM i server which makes them fast.
  • Special field handling can be used to provide functionality that is not possible on a 5250 device.
  • For a more detailed tutorial about special field handling refer to RAMP-WINAD03: Special Field Handling .
