SQL BI Manager monitors several type of metrics to provide accurate information about the status and health of the Integration Services and the instances hosting these services on a BI environment. The metrics are classified in the following categories:

Server Performance

This category contains the following server related performance metrics:

    • Disk
      Includes the following charts: Disk TransactionsAverage Seconds per TransactionCurrent Disk Queue Length, and Percent Idle Time.
    • Network
      Includes Data Transfer (bytes/sec) and Network Output Queue Length charts.
    • Cache
      Includes Cache Copy Read Hits PercentCache Copy Reads per Second, and Cache Faults charts.
    • CPU
      Displays CPU Thread Switching (Threads Waiting vs. Thread Switches), Percent Process Time (Percent Privileged Time vs. Percent User Time), Percent Processor Time (Processor Time vs. SSIS Processor Time), and Interrupts charts.
    • Processing
      Displays a Process Working Set (Memory Working Set Vs. SSIS Working Set) chart.
    • Memory
      Includes the following charts: Memory Overall UsageAvailable Memory, and Page Transactions.

SSIS Activity

This category displays a list of all Package Executions related to the Integration Services instance, with drill down capabilities. The list includes the following information:

    • Server
    • User
    • Package ID
    • Package Name
    • Status
    • Package Start
    • Package End
    • Duration
    • Error Count
    • First Error Message
    • Configuration Message

You can click the Package Name to populate the Package Details list below, which contains the following information:

    • Execution ID
    • Folder Name
    • Environment Name
    • Project Name
    • Step Name
    • Execution Duration
    • Start Time
    • End Time
    • Step Result

If you click the Step Name, BI Manager displays additional information for the task, organized in a list with the following columns:

    • Operation ID
    • Message TIme
    • Message Type
    • Message
    • Event Name
    • Package Step

The items displayed in the Package Execution list can be filtered by Package NameStatus, and User. The information can also be exported to a PDF, XLS, or XML file.

To obtain SSIS Activity, deploy packages in one of the following ways:

  1. Using the SSIS Catalog deployment model.
  2. Deploying to MSDB (configure packages for logging and use the 'Log Provider for SQL Server' as Provider type).

SSIS History

This category displays Package Monitoring information. The Package History list includes the following columns:

    • Server
    • Package
    • Average Execution Time
    • Last Execution Date
    • Last Execution Status

You can click a Package from the Package History list to view detailed Execution History information. Use the  and  icons to toggle between a list view and a chart view of the Execution History.

The items displayed in the Package Monitoring list can be filtered by Server. The information from both the Package History and the Execution History can be exported to PDF, XLS, or XML files.


You can modify the time frame and the scale (minute, hour, day, week, or month) used to display the information in the charts and export the views to a XLS or XML file. You can also print a specific chart or download it as a PNG, JPEG, PDF, or SVG file.
