SQL Inventory Manager now requires less permissions for data collection. Users can collect basic information from machines without the need of a sysadmin privileges. The minimum credentials required are a valid user name and a password to connect to a machine.
Discovery without login
SIM can discover instances without login, with this method SIM only collects basic information about discovered instances and it doesn't provide information on the version or edition of discovered SQL Instances.
Login to Instances
Log in to discovered instances to get extra information like version and edition. You need to provide valid credentials for the discovered instances.
