The Recommendations view provides a list of performance recommendations based on the analysis SQL Doctor ran using your specific criteria. These recommendations result from a full analysis. You can also view quick findings for currently-occurring issues.
SQL Doctor uses a recommendation engine from SQL Diagnostic Manager which helps you ease the updates between these two products. |
By default, SQL Doctor lists recommendations by priority. The priority of a recommendation is determined by the performance gain you receive from making the suggested change, how relevant it is the parameters you specified when configuring the analysis, and the confidence SQL Doctor has in the recommendation.
Use the left pane navigation tree to narrow the recommendations by:
Flagging a recommendation allows you to mark it for follow-up action. Use flags to identify recommendations that require further investigation or that you want to optimize at a later time. When you flag a recommendation, this flagged state is saved to the analysis file, allowing you easily find the recommendation later.
To flag recommendations, click the Flag icon next to the recommendation you want to flag.
Select each recommendation you want to block, and then click Block on the Recommendations toolbar menu. Once a recommendation is blocked, it does not appear in any future analysis you run. For more information, see Block Recommendations.
You can either export the results to Excel or email the results to specific people.
SQL Doctor allows you to perform the following actions, when applicable:
Opens a SQL Viewer window displaying the problematic part of the SQL script that generated the recommendation.
Opens the Optimize Now window, displaying the SQL script used to fix the detected problem. Click Run to fix the problem.
Opens the Undo Optimization window, displaying the SQL script used to undo the previously executed optimization. Click Run to undo the previous optimization.
Click a recommendation in the list to open the Recommendation Details window.
You can schedule an analysis to run automatically on a daily or weekly timeframe. To schedule the next analysis, click Schedule analysis in the SQL Doctor toolbar.
