PDF Export exports data using native PDF format. PDF Export attempts to match the exported characters as closely to the onscreen characters as possible. However, due to the variations in supported characters and formatting in different fonts, the onscreen and the exported PDF fonts might not match.
Scenario 1: Text on Chart View
During export to PDF, Aqua Data Studio will
- Map the first character of the text into one of the supported fonts in a pre-defined order, as described in the below table. If a supported font is found, then export converts all characters in the same "line" to the same font.
- If the first character matches no font in the below table, then export uses the default font Arial on Windows and OS X and DejaVu Serif on Linux.
- Once the font has been chosen for a given "line" of text, any characters that cannot be printed in that font are replaced with a question mark (?).
Scenario 2: Chart Title
Aqua Data Studio provides a list of fonts you can apply to a chart title. During export to PDF, Aqua Data Studio will
- For each character in the chart title, export attempts to use the specified font to render the character. If export cannot use the font, then export maps the character using the same algorithm as in Scenario 1.
- PDF Export supports only a limited set of font types. Some of the limiting factors include font format (e.g. OTF, TTC, etc.) and font location.
