Once extended properties are defined and set, they can be propagated to the other RED repositories as follows:
The definitions are exported from the source repository and imported to the target repository via the Tools > Extended Properties menu.
The values assigned to extended properties are included in a RED application that includes the parent connection or table object and are imported to the target repository during the application load process.
Note
- Any new or changed extended property definition must first be exported and then imported into the downstream repository, prior to loading an application that references them. Failing to load the definition first will result in the value assignment not being loaded for the object.
- Extended properties are designed to be accessed from Windows PowerShell scripts, via the WhereScape RED metadata service. To aid this access, WhereScape provides a metadata service client library that customers are suggested to use, to access the metadata service.
