Microsoft introduced a new server core-based licensing model with the release of SQL Server 2012. Instead of licensing based on physical processors, the new core-based model offers a more accurate measure and better metrics based on computing power for your physical or virtual servers.

IDERA SQL Inventory Manager supports the per-core licensing model using the core factor table, allowing you to override core information for multiple records by editing the processor details.

For more information about using the core-related fields in the Instances SQL Server Licensing view, see SQL Server Licensing by Instance view.
