Move the SQL Safe Repository database to a new location following the steps:

  • For SQL Safe version 5.0 and later:
    1. Move the database to the new instance (either using backup/restore or detach/attach).
    2. Log in to each of your SQL Safe Management Consoles and go to Tools > Repository > Management Service Settings.
    3. Update the settings to reflect the new location of your SQL Safe Repository database.
    4. Click on Test Connection to ensure your Console is connected to the new repository.
  • For SQL Safe version 4.8 to 4.9:
    1. Move the database to the new instance (either using backup/restore or detach/attach options). 
    2. Log in to each of your SQL Safe Management Consoles and go to Tools > Preferences.
    3. Update the settings to reflect the new location of your SQL Safe Repository database. 
    4. Click on Test Connection to ensure your Console is connected to the new repository. 
  • For older versions of SQL Safe:
    1. Move the database to the new instance (either using backup/restore or detach/attach options).
    2. Log in to the machine running the SQL Safe Management Service and go to Start > Programs > Idera > SQL Safe > Management Service Configuration.
    3. Specify the new location of the SQL Safe Repository database.
    4. Log in to each of your SQL Safe Management Consoles and go to Tools > Preferences > Repository > Retrieve from Management Service.
    5. Specify the hostname of the machine running the SQL Safe Management Service to pull its configuration into the console.
    6. Click on Test Connection to ensure your Console is connected to the new repository.
