Funnel Charts are commonly used for showing activities reflecting various stages of a process often related to sales. A funnel chart specifies levels, which follow one another in a sequence, and clearly shows you a progressive reduction of data and bottlenecks in pipelines.

  1. Connect to the sample data source in Aqua Data Studio.
  2. From the Dimensions pane, select Stage.
  3. From the Measures pane, select APAC.
  4. Click the Image Removed tab Image Added tab and then click Image Removed Image Added. Visualization builds a Funnel Chart.

    The order of hierarchy formed in Funnel is based on the placement of dimensions in the Label Deck. You can rearrange the fields in the Label Deck, to change the order of grouping on the chart. In the following example, we have used only one dimension for building the chart; therefore, Stage forms the funnel chart and splits the slices according to the stages in the dataset. The stages are sorted in the descending order based on SUM(APAC).

  1. In the Chart Properties area, click Label.

  2. Select the Show percentage check box. The percentage of each stage appears on the funnel slices.

Change the Display Style

  1. In the Chart Properties area, click Options.
  2. In the Display Style area, click Pyramid. Visual Analytics inverts funnel-shape upside down. There is absolutely no change in the data.

  1. In the Chart Properties area, click Options.
  2. In the Slice Height area, click Uniform height for all slices.

Other Actions

Other actions that you can perform on a plotted funnel chart are as follows:  You can sort data by using various sort options available in the chart view or the Advanced dialog. For more information, see Sorting.

  • You can use highlight actions to focus on the selected funnel slice. Visual Analytics makes the highlighted slices and its data labels prominent while dimming others in the view. For more information, see Highlight Actions.
  • You can filter records directly from the chart view without manually adding any fields to the Filters Deck. For more information, see Filters.
  • You can export worksheets containing visualization to Image, HTML, and PDF formats. For more information, see Export Visualizations.
