Step 1. Configure TCP/IP
Refer to the IBM i TCP/IP Configuration and Reference guide (SC41-5420-00). Read the chapter named Configuring TCP/IP for details of the basic TCP/IP configuration.
You may wish to automate the startup of TCP/IP so it is automatically started after IPL.
Ensure your TCP/IP configuration is working properly before proceeding any further. Use the ping command to verify you can reach another machine through TCP/IP.
