Filters are used to select business objects and put them into an instance list.
For example, an Employees filter might respond to different user requests by producing an instance lists of:
- All Employees whose names start with SMIT.
- All Employees who have a birthday today.
- All employees that work in the marketing department.
- All employees that started work last year.
The ability to quickly filter information and produce lists is at the heart of many commercial application designs.
