3.9.6 Batch Control Target Column
Mandatory.
Specify from 1 to 4 columns in the "batch control table" that are to hold the accumulations of the columns from this table.
At least one pair of columns (source and target) is required.
Rules
- All columns nominated must be defined in the table identified in the 3.9.1 Batch Control Table Name.
- All columns must be numeric.
Warnings
- The checking (and testing) of accumulated column precision is a user responsibility and is not performed by LANSA.
Tips & Techniques
- Note that while LANSA will check that all columns nominated exist in their respective tables, and are numeric, it will not check the sizes. Thus it is possible to accumulate a column with 4 decimal positions into a column with no decimal positions. All decimal precision would be lost and the accumulation would probably be meaningless. Likewise, a column with 15 significant digits could be accumulated into a column with 1 significant digit. Again the accumulation would almost certainly be meaningless.
