Filled Map is a powerful geographic visualization of data and displays how data differs across geographies or a region. It is useful in analyzing the data distribution across the geographic locations, viewing quantitative data on a map for critical regions, and reading plotted data in different colors and shades easily.


Download and connect to the sample data source. We are making this chart using 1 geo dimension and 1 measure.

Build a Filled Map Chart

To build a Filled Map Chart 

  1. Connect to the sample data source in Aqua Data Studio.
  2. From the Dimensions pane, select Country.
  3. From the Measures pane, select % English Speakers.
  4. Click the tab and then click . Visualization builds a Filled Map Chart. 

    Visualization moves Country to the Break Deck and the % English Speakers to the Color Deck. After customizing the measure color gradient, you can view the countries with the most English language speakers. For information on how you can customize the measure color gradient, see Chart Properties Color. If you want to display the country names, then click  the Visual Analytics submenu.
