SQL Inventory Manager services requirements

You need to comply with the following requirements for installing SQL Inventory Manager collection services:

If this software is not already installed on your computer, you must install it

prior to the installation of SQL Inventory Manager.

SQL Inventory Manager repository requirements

To install SQL Inventory Manager repositories you must have:

  • SQL Server 2005 SP1+
  • SQL Server 2008
  • SQL Server 2008 R2
  • SQL Server 2012
  • SQL Server 2014

Monitored SQL Server instances requirements

All SQL Server instances that you wish to monitor should comply with the following requirements:

Browser requirements

Idera SQL Inventory Manager user interface can be accessed via web with the following browsers:

  • Internet Explorer IE 9.x+
  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox

Port requirements

Idera SQL Inventory Manager uses the following ports:

  • Collection service port: 9275
  • Web application service port: 9276

Required Accounts and Permissions

You need the following accounts and permissions:

To create and access the SQL Inventory Manager repository databases

  • Create Database Rights on the target SQL Server Instance
  • Read and write privileges on the SQL Inventory Manager Repository Databases

For most SQL queries

VIEW SERVER STATE

VIEW ANY DATABASE

VIEW ANY DEFINITION

To monitor database information

ALTER ANY DATABASE server level permission or

CREATE DATABASE in the master database

For DBCC CHECKDBsysadmin server roles
WMI accountTo access remote WMI dataAdditional rights on a group that has been given remote access
