The install is the same for server and client. Simply run the SQLTrafficAccelerator.msi file and the following files will be installed on the system:
- ipnitro.sys
- NitroClient.dll
- NitroDiag.exe
- NitroMgr.exe – The SQL Traffic Accelerator Control Console
- NitroPrfInfo.dll
- NitroWatch.exe – The SQL Traffic Accelerator service that enables TDS compression and optimization
To manually deploy SQL Traffic Accelerator, these files can be copied to the target server and clients and the SQL Traffic Accelerator service can be manually registered and started by running the following commands:
- nitrowatch -i
- nitrowatch -s
Alternatively, the Microsoft Installer can be used in silent (aka, quiet) mode to simplify deployment. Run msiexec -? to access the microsoft installer command line documentation.
Note that not all clients must have SQL Traffic Accelerator installed, but only clients that have SQL Traffic Accelerator will see a performance improvement. Also, clients that have SQL Traffic Accelerator installed will still be able to connect to non-SQL Traffic Accelerator servers.
