Before you begin this task, you must have completed the following:

  • Installed the LANSA Open software using the current LANSA Windows Software.
  • Reviewed the communication requirements listed in the LANSA Open Checklist.

Step 1. Check the LANSA Open Configuration Parameters

The Configuration File parameters are set to default values during the installation process. When the LANSA Open installation has been completed, review the default values and change them to suit your installation's requirements.

Start the LANSA Open Configuration from the LANSA Open program group.

Note: You must log on as an Administrator before you can change the configuration.

For details of each option, refer to 10.2 LANSA Open Configuration Parameters or the help text supplied with the LANSA Open Configurator.

Step 2. Prepare Server

LANSA Windows Server

The following preparation work should be performed:

  • user profile configuration
  • entering the appropriate LANSA license code
  • TCP/IP listener configuration (if required)

LANSA for i Server

If you are not already using LANSA Open, you will need to prepare the IBM i server for access by your client-server applications. The setup and configuration details are described in Task: LANSA Open Setup on IBM i in the LANSA for i Administrator's Guide.

The preparations include the following types of tasks:

  • user profile configuration (including library list and data access)
  • adding IBM i directory entries
  • entering LANSA license code
  • adjusting LANSA system data areas
  • TCP/IP listener configuration (if required)
  • LANSA Repository preparations (e.g. loading files).
