To install LANSA BI on Windows, follow these steps:
- Prepare your environment
Before starting with the installation, ensure your system meets the required hardware and software prerequisites. For detailed information, go here.Install Apache Tomcat 9.0 onwards.
- Download & Run the Yellowfin installer
- Download the
.exe fileinstaller for Yellowfin 9.14 calledyellowfin-9.14.0-20241206-full.exefrom the Yellowfin Releases Portal and save it in the Operating System (OS) folder. Any other valid IFS directory name would be acceptable. This folder is only needed for installation. - Launch the installer:
- Use the
.exe filefor Windows. - The installer starts automatically after 15 seconds, or click the arrow to start the installation manually.

- Select the language; by default, the language is displayed based on the user’s machine settings. Click Next.
- Read and accept the Yellowfin end-user software agreement.
- Choose the available pack for installation and click Next.
- Select the license file. Click on Browse to locate your downloaded license file and click Next. You can also leave the box blank and add a license later.
- In the Options section, leave the default value or change the Server Port and Application Memory, click Next.
- Select your database type. If you choose a database that Yellowfin does not include drivers for, you will be prompted to locate your driver files. Select any driver files using the Browse button and click Next.
- Select where to install Yellowfin: accept the default path, select an existing folder, or type the path name in the box. If the folder does not exist, Yellowfin will create it.
- Begin with the installation process. It will take some time depending on your hardware capacity and the packs you selected for installation. Once the installation is done, click Finish.
- Click Close to complete the installation process.

- Replace custom files
images, custom CCS, and favicon.ico files- Go to folder “Yellowfin 9.14” (or any later version) → appserver → webapps → ROOT Copy and Paste to replace any identical naming of folders/files in “lansa-custom-files…” folder from LANSA BI 9.14.zip
- Run Yellowfin Apache Tomcat
- On your keyboard, press the Windows+R keys to open the Run dialogue box. Type services.msc and press the Enter key. This will open the services management console where you can manage Windows services, including starting or stopping them.
- Scroll down and look for “Yellowfin Apache Tomcat ..” and ensure it has started running
- Start LANSA BI
- Open a browser and go to http://localhost:8080/
- Proceed to use LANSA BI
- Kindly ensure you have uploaded your license during installation step or within setting configuration in admin settings
