Introducing Precise 10.0
Precise 10.0 is a complete Precise version, which includes and provides enhancements and fixes for Precise version 9.9. This topic describes the new features introduced, the technologies supported and no longer supported, and the issues resolved by this version.
New GUI
Precise 10.0 includes a new GUI framework built on Sencha ExtJS and HTML5.
This new GUI allows Precise to be run on modern browsers, such as Firefox and Chrome as well as support for Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge.
You can launch Precise using the following URL format: http://<host>:<port>/precise
e.g. http://precisefp:20790/precise
Before using the new interface, you must clear the browser cache including saved cookies.
You can continue to run the existing GUI from only Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge.
Installing Precise 10.0
Install Precise 10.0 in the following ways, depending on the currently installed Precise version:
- If this is the first time you are installing Precise, install Precise 10.0 as described in Clean installation of the Precise Framework.
- If Precise version 9.9 is currently installed, upgrade directly to version 10.0 as described in Upgrading Precise.
New Features and Enhancements for Precise 10.0
Precise 10.0 includes monitoring support for the following technologies and components:
- IIS 10.0
- SAP ECC 6 EHP 8
- .NET 4.62 and .NET 4.7 instances
Precise 10.0 includes the following new features and enhancements:
- Precise 10.0 extends the new user interface based on modern UI technologies to the Applications side of Precise. For more information about the new GUI including specific known issues and limitations, see Precise new user interface.
- You now can monitor SQL Server instances when using TLS 1.2 without requiring FIPS to be enabled. For more information about this feature, see Monitoring SQL Server instances with TLS 1.2 enabled.
- Support is added for using TLS 1.2 enabled instances as PMDB database. See Monitoring SQL Server instances with TLS 1.2 enabled for pre-requisites for this feature.
- Support is added for monitoring SQL Server instances configured in an Always On environment. See SQL Server Always On for more details.
- Addition metrics related to In-Memory capability has been added when monitoring Oracle 12.2 databases. See Oracle 12c additional metrics for details.
- The need for .NET 2.0 on the machine where Precise installer is run has been removed.
- Precise for SQL Server now uses the SQL Server Native Client 11.0 driver by default instead of the legacy SQL Server and OLEDB drivers. Due to this, we now have a prerequisite that the SQL Server Native Client 11.0 driver should be available on the following machines:
- Servers from which SQL Server instances are monitored;
- Machine from where framework installation is run;
- Machines on which Precise Focal Point, PMDB Focal Point and Precise for SQL Server Focal Points are installed

Known Issues
The Precise Focal Point needs to be restarted after an upgrade if using remote instances. This would also need starting of the SQL agents after the Focal Point restart.
When an Oracle monitoring instance is created immediately after framework installation, errors are sometimes seen in Oracle warehouse processes (Under Adminpoint -> Warehouse Processes). In such cases, a restart of the Oracle Focal Point and PMDB focal point fixes the problems.
After a fresh install or upgrade, it is required to restart the Precise GUI service before using the Custom Portal.
Issue with injdn.dll and injdn_x64.dll on Windows Server 2008 R2 with .NET monitoring
When a .NET instance is installed on Windows Server 2008 R2, a “Bad Image” error pops up. The problem can be resolved by installing a windows security update on the machine. The security update can be downloaded from https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/3033929.aspx
Some of the binaries from the Precise 10.0.0 installer show up as a threat under AVG antivirus. This is a false positive with AVG and does not cause any problems. It might have to be whitelisted when using AVG as antivirus.
